Resources & Farmer Support

Helping farmers grow better through knowledge and practical tools

At Buka Agro Exporters, we understand that farming success depends on access to the right information, quality inputs, and continuous support. Many farmers across Uganda face challenges such as unpredictable weather, soil degradation, pest outbreaks, and limited access to reliable farming knowledge. Our Farmer Support program was created to fill that gap by offering simple, clear, and practical resources that farmers can use every day on their farms.

We combine field experience with local research to produce guides, training materials, and advisory services that respond to real farming conditions. Each resource is written in easy-to-understand language and focuses on step-by-step guidance that leads to visible results. Whether you are planting coffee, raising livestock, or managing a small banana plantation, our goal is to help you plan better, grow stronger, and harvest more efficiently.

Crop Guides

Our crop guides are designed to help you get the best out of every planting season. They cover the crops we grow and export, including coffee, bananas, maize, sweet potatoes, pineapples, avocado, and livestock pasture. Each guide breaks down the full production cycle—from preparing the land and selecting seeds to controlling pests and managing harvests.

In the Coffee Guide, we explain how to select the right variety for your area, prepare nursery beds, manage shade, prune correctly, and process coffee beans for export. We also include sections on pest and disease control, soil nutrition, and spacing for high yields.

The Banana and Maize Guides focus on improving soil fertility through proper composting, mulching, and use of fertilizers. You will also find tips on early weeding, water management, and handling banana bunches to prevent bruising and spoilage.

The Sweet Potato, Pineapple, and Avocado Guides give you instructions on selecting vines and seedlings, maintaining plant health, and meeting export grading standards. We include details about harvesting techniques that maintain fruit quality for both local and international markets.

Each guide is regularly updated to reflect seasonal changes and local farming practices. Farmers can download these guides or receive printed copies from our distribution centers.

Crop Calendars

Timing is one of the most important factors in farming. Our crop calendars help you plan each activity according to the right season. Uganda’s climate patterns vary across regions, so we provide region-specific calendars that show when to plant, apply fertilizers, weed, spray, and harvest.

These calendars are built around Uganda’s two main rainy seasons—the first rains (March to June) and the second rains (September to December). For every major crop, we list the best planting dates and explain how to manage your field throughout the season.

By following the crop calendar, you can avoid planting too early or too late, which often leads to poor germination or low yield. You can also use it to schedule your input purchases and labor needs in advance. Farmers who follow the calendar closely often achieve more consistent and predictable harvests.

Our calendars are available in both printed and digital versions. They can be downloaded from our website or collected from local farmer meetings organized by Buka Agro Exporters.

Agrochemical Use Tips

Many farmers struggle with pest and disease management due to incorrect use of agrochemicals. We provide clear and reliable information on how to handle these products safely and effectively. Our goal is to help you protect your crops while maintaining soil and environmental health.

Our tips explain the importance of using the right chemical for the right problem. We also emphasize the correct dosage and mixing procedures to avoid overuse or misuse. We teach farmers how to identify early signs of pest infestation so they can act quickly before damage spreads.

We promote the use of protective gear such as gloves, masks, and boots to reduce direct exposure. Farmers are also trained on how to clean spraying equipment, dispose of containers, and store chemicals away from food and water sources.

In addition, we offer demonstrations through farmer field days, showing the correct spraying techniques and timing. This practical approach ensures that every farmer understands how to use agrochemicals responsibly and achieve better results from their crops.

Livestock and Pasture Management

Livestock plays an important role in sustainable agriculture. At Buka Agro Exporters, we share resources that help farmers improve the health, productivity, and welfare of their cattle and goats. Our livestock support materials explain feeding practices, disease prevention, breeding management, and proper shelter construction.

We teach farmers how to establish and maintain quality pastures that can support animals throughout the year. Our pasture guides cover grass selection, planting, fertilization, and rotational grazing techniques. Proper pasture management reduces feeding costs and helps animals grow faster and stay healthy.

We also provide simple disease prevention calendars that show when to vaccinate and deworm livestock. These tools help farmers avoid outbreaks that can cause serious losses. Farmers who follow these guides are better prepared to manage their herds and sustain long-term production.

Our livestock support is designed to help smallholders and large-scale farmers alike. By improving feeding systems and animal care, farmers increase productivity and income, while contributing to the country’s livestock value chain.
